help a family build a better future

Volunteers are the lifeblood of Habitat for Humanity. We are able to build homes for families in need thanks to volunteers like yourself. Never volunteered before? No problem, you can volunteer at Habitat without having prior experience. If you would like to learn more about how Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County works consider joining us for a Nuts & Bolts Orientation.

If you have already registered as a volunteer, check out current calendar listings.

Want to join our group of regular volunteers? Click on the Weekday Warriors tab below.

Volunteers are the foundation of Habitat for Humanity! Each year, over 5,000 individuals volunteer to build homes for families in Pinellas County, helping families see their dream of homeownership become a reality.

Age Requirements:
Volunteers 14 and 15 years old can participate on landscaping days and in our stores. Volunteers 16 and 17 years old can participate in any build activity but are not permitted to use power tools.

Volunteer Activites Can Include:

  • Setting trusses
  • Installing soffit and fascia
  • Installing insulation board
  • Installing windows
  • Installing doors and cabinets
  • Installing trim work
  • Landscaping, etc.

Because construction is unpredictable, we ask volunteers to be prepared for any activity. We are unable to inform you of your volunteer activity until a week before your volunteer day. The build schedule can change quickly due to subcontactors, weather and number of volunteers.

Help us assist customers in one of our two ReStore locations, Palm Harbor or Clearwater.

Girl PowerHouse

Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County’s Girl PowerHouse is an effort organized by women and powered by woman volunteers who want to be actively involved with addressing the problem of substandard housing in our Pinellas county
community. Woman volunteers come together from all walks of life to swing hammers and raise the roof to build secure, affordable homes where children and families can thrive. Learn more details on our PowerHouse Fact Sheet or see photos from our Girl PowerHouse build.

Due to tremendous response, all Girl PowerHouse volunteer spots are full for this 8-week build! We are overwhelmed with the enthusiastic response and look forward to broadening volunteer opportunities for next year's build.

If you wish to not build on our construction site, being a sponsor is another option to consider. Review the available sponsorship opportunities or the Girl PowerHouse Kick-Off Event sponsorship levels.

Faith Build

Building on Faith. Each year, faith based communities from around the county come together to build not just a house, but a home for a local family. Last year, with the help of 16 churches, we were able to build the Acevedo home. From putting up the trusses to laying the last piece of sod, this home is built on faith. In addition to volunteering, many of the faith based communities sponsor the home as well.

If you are interested in becoming a part of the 2016 build, please see below.

VOLUNTEER GROUPS. To volunteer as a group, please email our Director of Volunteer Services, Jack Shanks.

INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEERS. Once the home begins construction in March, individual volunteers can sign up online.

FAITH BUILD SPONSORS.To participate in the Faith Build as a home sponsor, please email our V.P. of Development, Alison Riley or contact her at 727-536-4755 ext. 215.
